Starter champion codes: which one to use, and the order that ruins it

You get one. Ever. On a brand-new account, inside a window most guides describe wrong, and there's a cooldown sitting behind it that eats the whole thing if you touch the wrong code first.
I lost mine that way. This is the version I wish I'd read.
The one-code rule, and why it decides everything

A new Raid account can redeem exactly one starter champion code. Not one per champion. One, total, for the lifetime of that account. Redeem MONKEYKING and PHEMONew is gone. Not expired. Gone, because the slot is used.
That single rule is why the order you do things in matters more than which champion you like the look of. Most people research the champion for twenty minutes and spend zero seconds on the sequence, then find out the sequence was the part that mattered.
The cooldown nobody puts in the headline
Here's the part that costs people the champion.
You can enter one promo code of any kind every 24 hours. Any kind. A generic silver code, an energy code, a code from a YouTube sponsor read — they all burn the same slot.
So the classic failure looks like this. You install, you find a list of active codes, you paste in a resource code because it's at the top of the list, and now you're locked out for a day. Your account keeps aging while you wait. By the time the cooldown lifts you may be outside the starter window entirely, and the error message won't tell you that's what happened.
Enter the starter code first. Before anything. Before you finish the tutorial if you can.
The window: 24 hours, not level 15

Search this and half the internet will tell you the code stops working once your account passes level 15.
That's not how it works. The check is on account age, not account level. You can grind hard and be level 25 inside two days and the code still goes through, because nothing is looking at your level.
What the sources disagree on is the length of the window. Some say 24 hours from registration, some say the hard server cutoff is 72.
I can't resolve that for you, and you shouldn't want me to. Redeem inside 24 hours. That's true whichever source is right, it costs you nothing, and it means the ambiguity never becomes your problem. Anyone confidently telling you that you have three days is making a bet with your champion.
Which champion is actually worth the slot
Three starter codes circulate. Here's the read.
Grand Oak Padraig
Code: GETGRANDOAK
- Faction Sylvan Watchers
- Role Support
- Summary Buffs the whole team by type, heals, cleanses, speed aura
Phemo the Shepherd
Code: PHEMONew
- Faction Argonites
- Role Defense
- Summary Fine. Community rates him mid
Sun Wukong
Code: MONKEYKING
- Faction —
- Role —
- Summary Popular pick, strong early
If you want one recommendation: Padraig. He's the one that keeps being useful after the first month. A Support that hands out buffs matched to each ally's type, restores the team, and carries a speed aura solves problems in content you haven't reached yet. Early accounts are short on exactly that.
GETGRANDOAK also ships 15 Spirit XP Brews, 300,000 Silver and 15 Greater Spirit Potions alongside him. When you're new and everything costs silver you don't have, that isn't a footnote.
One catch worth knowing: that code runs until 8 October 2026. After that, the champion is still summonable, but the free route closes.
And Phemo. I won't oversell him. Ask around and you'll get a shrug. He's a perfectly fine Defense champion, and there are stun-heavy alternatives people would rather have. If someone tells you he's a game-changer, they're selling something.
Doing it in the right order
Install the client and create the account.
Step 1Nothing else yet.
Redeem the starter code immediately.
Step 2In-game, or on the web redemption portal.
Confirm it landed
Step 3The reward arrives in your inbox, not your inventory. Check there before you panic.
Then everything else.
Step 4Tutorial, other codes, all of it. Once the starter code is in, the 24-hour cooldown costs you nothing.
That's the whole procedure. It's short because the hard part isn't doing it, it's not doing it in the wrong order.
A note on where you install it
If you're picking a platform while you're here: the Windows client has no daily multi-battle cap and no thermal throttling, and it runs the game natively rather than through an emulator. Same account either way, so it isn't a decision you're locked into. But the early grind is where the cap hurts most, and that's exactly where you are. What Plarium Play is and what it needs covers the detail.
And if you're still deciding whether the game is worth the time at all, the argument is here: is Raid pay-to-win?

Play on PCWhat I'd tell a friend starting today
Use GETGRANDOAK before you touch another code. Do it in the first hour, not the first day. Ignore anyone quoting the level-15 rule. And if a code fails, check whether you entered a different one in the last 24 hours before you assume it's dead. Nine times out of ten, that's the entire story.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a starter code on an account I already play?
No. Starter codes check account age, and an existing account returns an error. One starter code per account, for the life of the account.
How long do I actually have?
Redeem inside 24 hours of registering. Some sources say the hard cutoff is 72 hours, but 24 is true under every source, so it's the only number worth acting on.
Is the level 15 rule real?
No. It's repeated everywhere and it's wrong. The servers track how old the account is, not what level you reached. You can grind past 15 in an afternoon and still redeem.
Why did my code fail if it's still valid?
Almost always the 24-hour cooldown. One promo code of any kind per 24 hours, so a generic resource code on day one locks out the starter code until tomorrow.
Can I use two starter codes?
No. The first one you redeem is the one you keep. That's why the order matters more than the choice.
