Sun Wukong in Raid — the popular starter pick, and when it's the wrong one

MONKEYKING is the starter code most people choose, and it's the one I see the most second thoughts about. Wukong isn't bad. But "clears the early game faster" and "worth a permanent one-per-account slot" are different questions, and most guides only answer the first.
Sun Wukong
Gotcha!
Active SkillAttacks 1 enemy. Has a 50% chance of placing a [Stun] debuff for 1 turn. Excellent for wave control in early dungeons.
Unbeatable Wukong
Passive SkillRevives this Champion with 100% HP and 100% Turn Meter 3 turns after they were killed. The ultimate safety net for early campaign progression.
What he does for a new account

Sun Wukong is a Legendary damage champion, and on a fresh account that means the early campaign goes quickly. You'll clear stages you'd otherwise grind, and you'll feel the difference inside the first hour. That's why he's the popular pick.
That immediacy is real value. A new account is fragile, and the most common reason people quit is the first week feeling like a slog. A strong attacker fixes that.
Where he stops carrying
Here's the part the popularity hides.
Damage is the resource Raid is least short of. The campaign hands you serviceable attackers, and every shard you open is another chance at a better one. So the champion doing the heavy lifting in week one is often benched by week six, replaced by something you pulled for free.
What doesn't get replaced is utility. Speed auras, cleanses, team heals, buffs: the game keeps asking for those and rarely hands them out. A support you get on day one is still in the team a year later.
So the trade is: Wukong makes weeks one to four faster. A support makes months two to twelve easier. Both are legitimate. They're just not the same purchase.
Is the Padraig Offer Worth It?
Wukong gives you the champion and nothing else. Padraig arrives with a starter kit attached:
- 1x Legendary Support Champion
- 300,000 Silver Coins
- 15x EXP Brews
- 15x Arcane Potions
The comparison

If this is your first account, Padraig is the pick, and the bundled 300,000 silver isn't a footnote when every gear swap costs silver you don't have.
If this is a second account, and plenty of people run one, Wukong is the better answer. You already know what you're doing, and the speed matters more than the long tail.
When Wukong is the right call
Three cases:
- You've played before and you're rerolling. You know the systems, you want the early grind
over with, and you'll pull utility soon enough.
- You specifically want to play a damage-forward account. Preference is a legitimate reason and
nobody should talk you out of enjoying your own game.
- The Padraig code has closed. It runs to 8 October 2026; after that this comparison changes.
The thing that will actually cost you the champion
Not the choice. The order.
One promo code of any kind per 24 hours. Any kind: a silver code, an energy code, a code from a sponsored video. They all burn the same window.
Enter a resource code first and you're locked out for a day while your account keeps aging toward the end of the starter window. The error message won't tell you that's what happened.
Redeem the starter code first, inside 24 hours of registering. The level-15 rule you'll see repeated everywhere is a myth. The check is on account age, not level. Full sequence in starter champion codes and the order that ruins them.
Before you commit
Whichever champion you take, the platform decision matters more to a free account than the champion does. The Windows client removes the daily multi-battle cap, which is the ceiling on how fast you can build anything. What the first week should look like covers what to do with the champion once you have him.

What code gives Sun Wukong?
MONKEYKING, on a brand-new account only. Like every starter code it can be redeemed once per account, for the life of that account.
Is Sun Wukong good for beginners?
Yes for the first few weeks. He clears early content faster than a support will. The question is whether that speed is worth your one permanent slot.
Should I pick Wukong or Padraig?
Wukong if you want the early game to go quickly. Padraig if you want the champion still in your team in month three. Most first accounts are better served by Padraig.
Can I redeem two starter codes?
No. The first one you redeem is the one you keep, which is why the order matters more than the choice.
Does the code expire?
Starter codes rotate and individual ones do close. Check it's still live before you plan around it, and redeem inside 24 hours of registering either way.
