Grand Oak Padraig — is he worth your one starter code?

Grand Oak Padraig
You get one starter code per account, ever. Padraig is one of the three champions on offer, and he's the one I'd pick. Not because he's the flashiest. Because he's the one still in your teams in month three.
What he actually is

Grand Oak Padraig is a Sylvan Watchers Support. His kit is built around the things a new roster has none of:
- Buffs matched to each ally's type, rather than one blanket buff
- Team healing
- Cleansing — removing debuffs the enemy put on you
- A speed aura, which raises the whole team's speed
That last one is the one that matters. Turn order in Raid runs off a speed stat, and almost every difficulty wall in the game is a speed-tuning problem wearing a costume. A champion who raises the whole team's speed from the aura slot is contributing before he's taken a turn.
Why a support, when you want a damage dealer
Every new player wants the big damage number. It's the wrong instinct here, and the reason isn't obvious until you've hit the wall yourself.
Early accounts aren't short of damage. The campaign hands you serviceable attackers and you'll pull more. What they're short of is survivability and control: the things that let a team finish a fight it would otherwise lose on turn nine. That's what healing, cleansing and buffs do, and they don't stop being useful when your gear improves.
A damage champion gets replaced the moment you pull a better one. A support with a speed aura and a cleanse is still there long after.
What the code actually gives you

GETGRANDOAK isn't only the champion. It also carries:
What the code actually gives you
- 1x Grand Oak Padraig
- 15x Spirit XP Brews
- 15x Greater Spirit Potions
- 300,000 Silver
The silver matters more than it looks. Every gear swap in this game costs silver, and a new account is permanently short of it. 300,000 up front buys you a lot of early experimenting you couldn't otherwise afford.
The deadline
The code runs until 8 October 2026. After that, Padraig remains obtainable inside the game, but the code route closes.
If you're reading this before that date and you were going to start anyway, that's the argument for starting now rather than in two months.
The trap that costs people the champion
This is where most people lose the champion, and it has nothing to do with which one they picked.
One promo code of any kind per 24 hours. Not one starter code — one code, of any type. A generic silver code, an energy code, a code from a sponsor read; they all burn the same window.
So the classic failure goes: install, find a list of active codes, paste in a resource code because it was sitting at the top, and now you're locked out for a day while the account-age window keeps running.
Enter the starter code first. Before the tutorial if you can. The full sequence, including what to check to confirm it landed, is in starter champion codes and the order that ruins them.
And the widely repeated "you must redeem before account level 15" rule is a myth. The servers check account age, not level.
Padraig or Wukong?
The two codes people actually choose between.
For a first account I'd take Padraig. If you want the other side of that argument, Sun Wukong has his own page. Both picks are fine, and the ordering trap above will cost you more than the wrong pick ever will.
Before you create the account
Two things worth knowing first. The game is pay-to-win in exactly one mode and not in the rest, and the Windows client removes the daily grind cap that makes a free account slow. Same account either way, so it's not a decision you're locked into.

What code gives Grand Oak Padraig?
GETGRANDOAK, on a brand-new account only. It also ships Spirit XP brews, silver and greater spirit potions alongside the champion.
Is Padraig better than Sun Wukong?
For a first account, most players would say yes. A support that buffs, heals and carries a speed aura solves problems you haven't hit yet. Wukong is the stronger immediate damage pick.
When does the Padraig code expire?
It runs until 8 October 2026. After that the champion is still obtainable in game, just not through the code.
Can I redeem it on my existing account?
No. Starter codes check account age. An account that's already playing returns an error.
Does he stay useful late?
More than most starter champions. Support champions age well because content keeps asking for buffs, cleanses and speed, and those never stop mattering.
